I remember the day we took him home
How tiny and fragile and dependant
He was, put to rest in his travel box
Whilst my lover prepared the new palace.
And I watched how my boy grew strong and his skin
Regenerated, ho he became more
Of a man and how he helped my lover.

Now the final day has come and I can-
Not bear to part with my little soldier.
All I can think is how I never want
This day to end, but I know it has to.

And as I search amongst the evergreen
My little man’s no longer to be seen.
